All Graphs Page
markdown version · view in Roam Research
- The All Graphs page lists every graph you have. It's Roam's home screen, and where new graphs get created.
- You land on it when you sign in at roamresearch.com.
- From inside a graph, the graph switcher at the top of the Left Sidebar takes you between graphs and back to the full list.
Hosted and local graphs
- A Hosted Graph is synchronized with Roam's servers and accessible from anywhere.
- A Local Graph lives in that browser's storage, on that computer only.
- Back up local graphs regularly using export: clearing your browser's data deletes them.
Creating a graph
- Click + Create Graph, then pick Create Hosted Graph or Create Local Graph.
- Choose the name carefully. It must be unique, and it becomes the graph's permanent URL (hosted) or storage name (local).
- Tick Encrypted to create an [encrypted graph](Encrypted Graphs). This is decided at creation; an existing graph can't be encrypted later.
- If you lose an encrypted graph's password, your data cannot be recovered, because Roam never has the key.
- Creating a hosted graph needs an internet connection.
The account menu
- Click your name in the top right to open the account menu.
- Billing: manage your subscription and payment details.
- Check for Updates: get the newest version of Roam right away. See Updating Roam.
- Theme: Light, Dark, or Auto (System). This only changes Roam outside your graphs; inside a graph, appearance is customized with Roam Depot extensions or roam/css.
- Sign Out: signs you out of Roam on this device.
Good to know
- The search box filters your list, handy once the graphs pile up.
- The Download Desktop App button in the top right gets you the standalone app. See Install Roam for more options.
